Main role of UNR.

To do excellent research in the field of nutrition to increase knowledge about nutritional sciences.  To improve public health, quality of life and public healthy eating habits. To do clinical researches and public articles in both international and internal trade journals.


Unit for Nutrition Research (UNR)

  • Diet in infancy and health is one of the key research fields of the UNR.
  • UNR also studies food habits and nutrition of other age groups such as adolescence and the elderly, as well as nutrition in pregnancy and it’s effects on health of mother and child.
  • UNR have coordinated and performed large intervention studies, validation studies on methods used in the nutritional sciences and cross sectional studies.
  • UNR has a widespread network of international collaborators.

UNR is located on the premises of the University Hospital at Hringbraut in Reykjavik, or further at Eiriksgata 29, where UNR shares facilities with the Nutrition Department.

UNR foundation
UNR was  established in 1997 by Inga Thorsdottir professor which has been the manager since then.  UNR is part of University of Iceland and University Hospital.  Main field of UNR is Nutrition Research and solvin Clinical Nutritional problems.  UNR has colellege in many countries and participates in several colloborative projects.
